Comic

On this page is a comic that me and a friend are working on. It's based on the rock opera Broken Bride by Ludo. It's not that good, and we're not really planning on publishing it, but here's the first chapter: (without illustrations, unfortunately)

Broken Bride
First Panel: Rain is falling from the sky on a dark night.
A Voice: Time...
NP-(denotes next panel): We see rain pouring around a grave under a tree with a shadowy figure kneeling in front of it.
Voice: Nothing escapes it’s cold grasp...
NP: We see the name on the gravestone.
Voice: Not even love...
NP: The scene of a car accident. Sirens are blaring.
NP: A car pulls up.
NP: We see a guy in the car, with a look of shock on his face.
NP: The door opens.
NP: He is running toward the crash with a look of pure horror. An officer is trying to talk to him.
Police officer: Uh, sir, I’m gonna have to ask you to step back...
NP: He is kneeling in front of the body of a woman. He has a combination of absolute horror and sadness on his face.
Officer: Sir!
NP: He is crying.
The man: No... No... I’m not seeing this... It can’t...
Voice: Nothing can overcome time...
NP: he curls up into a ball as the police surround him.
The man: No... No... NO!
Voice: But I have to try...

CH 1
NP: We see a clock ringing. It says 7:00.
NP: We see the silhouette of a figure, already sitting up in his bed.
NP: We see Marty’s face through as the morning light shines on it. He looks very sad.
Character description: Marty- a middle-aged man, late 30s to early 40s. Looks worn out, but still has a certain youngness and life about him.
NP: A close up of his face, very distraught.
Marty- (-denotes thought bubble)The dream again...
NP: He remembers the pain and agony on his face when he arrived at the accident.
Marty- I can’t keep living it out...
NP: We see his face again as he realizes that it’s his wife in the accident.
Marty- I’ve been suffering for too long... 22 years is too long...
NP: Marty has a determined look on his face.
Marty: Today’s the day.
NP: A picture sitting on Marty’s bedside, in which he and his wife Amanda are looking very happy.
Character description: Amanda is the wife of Marty, who died in a car accident in 1989. She and Marty were both in their early twenties when it happened. She is very beautiful.
Marty: I’m gonna fix it, Amanda! I-I’ll rewrite the story... I’m going to turn back time!
(Flashback to a couple weeks after Amanda’s death)
NP: Marty is sitting with his friends Kevin, Albert and Rodrick at a restaurant or something.
Character Descriptions: Kevin is Marty’s loyal best friend. Around the same age as him. Albert is Marty’s younger brother. Rodrick is a friend of the group. Around Marty’s age.
Rodrick: Turn back time?! Listen, Marty, I know you’re hurting right now. I can’t imagine how tough everything you’re going through is... But I’m starting to think you’re serious about all this time travel stuff... You do know time travel has been proven scientifically impossible right?!
NP: We see them all sitting around the table. Marty is sitting with his head in his hands, looking glum. Kevin leaning toward Rodrick, while shielding Marty with his arm. Albert is sipping his drink nonchalantly.
Kevin: Hey, just lay off him Rod! He’s going through a lot... It’s only been a couple weeks since the funeral.
Rodrick: I’m just sayin’! I’m worried about him. That’s all...
Albert: Yeah, sorry, but I gotta agree with Rodrick...
NP: Everybody looks at Marty worriedly.
Rodrick: You just haven’t been the same man...
NP: Marty looks up at them with a weak smile.
Marty: I know... I know you’re just trying to help, Rodrick... I’m sorry for being so weird, guys... I... I just really miss her is all...
NP: Marty thinking to himself right after his statement.
Marty- And I am going to find a way to go back in time and get her back, Rodrick. I don’t care if it’s impossible.
NP: We see various blueprints for a time machine
Marty-I’ve already started working on it...
NP: We are still seeing various different blueprints. They have clearly been edited multiple times and have many bad ideas on them, many things are crossed out.
Marty- But I really have no idea what I’m doing! I mean I am trying to build a time machine after all....
NP: We see Marty sitting at his desk, surrounded by papers and papers of failed ideas, his head in his hands.
Marty- Maybe it is impossible...
NP: Everyone sitting at the table again. Rodrick yapping about something. Marty still has his head in his hands.
Rodrick: ... And then he told me I needed 1.21 jiggawatts of power to run the thing!
Albert: Geez, that’s crazy.
NP: Marty stands up.
Marty: Guys, I don’t really feel like eating anything today... I think I’m just gonna head home.
NP: Kevin looks up concerned.
Kevin: You ok, man?
NP: Marty waves at everyone, smiling weakly again.
Marty: Yeah, yeah. I’m alright. I’ll see you guys later!
NP: The guys are all sitting at the table in silence.
NP: They look around guiltily.
NP: Marty is outside standing in the rain.
NP: He looks up into the sky.
Marty: Why did this have to happen! Why me?!
NP: Marty walks toward his door, out of his house, in the present day.
NP: He looks down. Tears are falling out of his eyes.
Marty: Life was so good... I just miss her so much...
NP: He’s back in the present day, walking toward a shed.
NP: A close up of his face.
Marty: I loved her so much... I still do.
NP: He opens the door.
NP: He looks up determined.
Marty: I don’t care what Rodrick says! I am going to build it! It’s not impossible! It can’t be!
NP: We see the time machine sitting in the garage in the present day.
